It was a dark and stormy night... by MidnightTiger8140 It was a dark and stormy night... by MidnightTiger8140
Happy #Inktober! =D
I drew this yesterday, but didn't have access to a scanner until today. I probably won't be doing ink drawings every day because I already have an ongoing art project (plus graduate school applications, the GRE, an engineering licensing exam, etc.). But there may be a few inky doodles from time to time ;)

Reference: This painting by Bob Ross: s968.photobucket.com/user/2kgs…
Also, just because I love watching him wash his brush: www.wimp.com/washingbrush/

Media: Pilot G-2 05-mm pen on a 4x6" note card
Time: Like... 4-5 hours OTL The sky took a long time.

Update: I made a cyanotype print of this piece:

It was an incredibly cliched' way to start a story...

Yeah, I like this one, too; I find the black ink more dramatic.

Thank you! And yes, I love washing - er, watching... awkward typo - Bob Ross :XD:
Ink is fun ^^ I mostly use cheap pens, since I'm too frugal to buy myself nice art supplies XP (And that way you don't have to worry about "wasting" high-quality materials. I have that insecurity ._.")
You mostly just need to find a pen that writes somewhat dependably - doesn't break the line a lot when you write/draw with it. If gunk tends to build up at the tip, have a tissue or scrap piece of paper available to wipe it off every so often. Note cards are nice to draw on - it's thick enough so that the pen doesn't scrape all the way through.
(Obviously, most of my pen experience is from doodling in class :XD:)
^-- To be fair, I mostly doodled after exams and quizzes - if I happened to finish early and had some free time, I'd doodle or make origami from the scrap paper (in math class) :XD:
Just make sure you get your schoolwork done first (and done well) before you do that, though ;)

But yeah! Ink's a lot of fun ^_^ Very versatile, and not terribly costly or messy (unless you end up with a broken pen... had that happen once and got ink stains all over my hands, but thankfully none on my clothing ._.")

hehe yeah well i do have a bit of experience of covering my books full of random scribbling xD. I guess its not
about what tools you have but how you use them :)
I remember having an ink dip pen..but I have no idea what happened to it , never got around to using it either... oh well.
I do have some thicker paper so Ill try and see what I can do.
Ty for the tips and info! :fish:

Yeah... It did use quite a bit, although fortunately the piece is fairly small (4x6 inches), so it wasn't too too bad. ^^

I was just going to do a little sketch for Inktober, but then I got kinda carried away... I'm amazed my pen survived this piece. I thought I was going to use up all the ink, but somehow it held out. :XD:
