Sacred Cut

Description

In my Honors College class, "Math and Art," we've been studying the relationships between mathematics, music, and the visual arts. One of the activities we've been doing for homework are geometric constructions, such as regular polygons, forms involving the golden ratio, etc.

This piece is supposed to demonstrate the "sacred cut" (shown on the left here: [link]). But the professor has told us to have fun with these constructions, so I thought I might add a few extra squares and circles and color and whatnot :)

Stay tuned for the results of my next assignment: creating a tessellation.

Medium: Prismacolor pencil on copy paper
Time: ...I don't even want to know...probably...6 hours at the most.
This was my first time using only Prismacolors, so getting used to shading with them took some time.
